Why the Media sucks.

The other day I was extremely glad to read this article.
It’s in reference to a statement Will Smith said in december, where he was hideously misquoted. I remember talking to Ben about it over MSN:

(00:45) Nic: You’re misreading what he’s saying. While obviously Hitler was wrong and did something wrong, to him he thought he was doing good. The fact it was bad doesn’t change the fact to him, his intentions were sound. While the product of his intentions were wrong the fact he didn’t set out and do a bad thing is what Will is suggesting… therefore, the backwards logic. Hitler thought about it the incorrect way, but to him it was the best thing to do. Obviously, though, he was wrong in the head. Will is just smart enough to think about things from a different perspective, and I get that. I do the same.
I’m smart too, by the way, so don’t tell me I need to be re-programmed, lol.

Edit: okay seriously what words I’ve used are that bad? How are they banned? *Edits slightly negative works with some plain and boring ones*
Edit2: I get that people post really… strange stuff in comments but, wow.
Edit3: Could you at least highlight it?
(00:45) Nic: how is that bad?
(00:45) Nic: http://www.pagesix.com/story/will+smith+hitler+was+good+person
(00:46) Nic: commenting on that article
(00:46) Nic: silly people
(00:46) Nic: “You have words in the body that are banned”
(00:46) Ben: Hitler is probably banned
(00:48) Nic: wtf you don’t make an article about hitler and ban it from discussion
(00:48) Ben: You should send them an email
(00:49) Nic: I should
(00:49) Nic: they could at least highlight the banned word
(00:53) Nic: done
(00:53) Ben: Yay!
(00:53) Nic: not that they’ll care
(00:53) Nic: am I nuts like Will or you do actually get what he means?
(00:54) Ben: No, I agree.
(00:54) Ben: Hitler was a great guy.
(00:54) Ben: And I actually love saying that to spark off people, especially people I know it’ll spark off and have them foaming at the mouth.
(00:55) Ben: So I say it at every opportunity.
(00:55) Ben: But he talked his way into power, got Germany out of the depression, increased employment, unified his people …
(00:55) Ben: He just happens to have also done several terrible and unforgivable things, like invading Poland, killing millions of Jews, and parting his hair like that.

Oh that also highlights the patheticness of that site in regard to commenting on it’s articles….seriously it took me ages to actually post the damn comment. I bet no one cared either.

Because if the media can make a huge deal out of something, they’ll do it. Even if it’s a highly paid actor who is actually intelligent rather than being a brainless automaton.
See, Smith made a comment, which was actually pretty smart. I mean, to me (and Ben) it makes sense. No where did he say “Hitler was a good person”. No, he said that Hitler may have done some incredibly evil things, but he didn’t set out to be evil. In his mind, he thought he was doing good.
But as usual, misquoting is more fun than trying to wrap your head around a terribly simple concept.

I honestly can’t understand why anyone would want to be famous. I mean, everything you do is scrutinized… you’re constantly watched and commented on. What a fun way to live. Of course, the money is good, but that usually goes on drugs and alcohol for when you really want to leave that twisted world which is actually called reality. Urgh.

I am sorry to say that I do read some of these gossip blogs daily. Sometimes its interesting, sometimes its sad (Poor Heath :( ), sometimes its good for a laugh because you cannot believe how ridiculously stupid some of these people are.

Point 1: Britney Spears.

Oh yes, everyone.. even my parents know about Britney Spears. That’s because we get to hear gripping stories such as ‘Britney buys some startbucks!’.. I can’t get through the day without knowing that. My gosh. Thing is, I bet she does what she does for attention. Hell, she was never that brilliant at the singing anyway… people mostly liked her because she was physically fit. Now, she’s really not.. and her hair is .. actually more ugly than that of Amy Whinehouse(that was an intentional mispelling :) )… yet we STILL have to hear about her. She wants attention, and she gets it. The media gives her attention so she does more stupid things.

Point 2: Reality TV ‘Stars’

I don’t even watch it, but I am personally bored of reading about ‘The Hills’ people. Especially when it was said that some blonde girl called ‘LC’ got some sort of fashion mention above people who actually DO fashion. She’s just some girl MTV picked up and shoved into the faces of viewers. Basically all this girl did was to grow up in california and enrol on a fashion course because it’s ‘like… so fun! yah uh’… the fact she might look like a dogs dinner doesn’t matter….. because she’s a star! She has the giant sunglasses to prove it. I am a star too, I picked some giant sunglasses up in Topshop. I am waiting for MTV to throw millions of dollars at me and call me something I’m not….
Then her ‘friend’ Heidi and her boyfriend. She got a boob job, more plastic jobs… is virtually some blonde bimbo who’d end up working in a highstreet clothes shop had MTV not made her ‘famous’ too.

In the UK…now I don’t actually watch Pop Idol, but my sister does.. and I too cringed at how far some of the contestants got, just because they are what is ‘hot’. Because people think it’d be cool to vote for these idiots, they get a huge ego and think they can do something they can’t. Is ‘Chico’ an Idol? Umm.. no. Someone with talent lost out so that idiot could go further on the show. Thanks to the viewers with half a brain.

So basically, to be famous and rich these days, you need possess no talent and have lots of surgical implants.

Point 3: Madonna’s Poor Daughter/Celebrity Kids in General

I have seen many articles about Madonna’s daughter where they’ve attacked her for not plucking her eyebrows at the age of 11. I mean.. what the hell? I didn’t pluck mine until I was 14, and even then, it was pretty badly. But wait! Their excuse is something along the lines of “She is Madonna’s daughter”… It’s ridiculous. The poor girl lives with one of the most famous singers of all time, I should think she needs to hold onto her childhood and normalcy for as long as possible.

Disney kids. I cannot stand them. Mostly because they are talentless, but also because they try to look/act older than they actually are.
Take that ‘Miley Cyrus’ girl…her show is annoying (it’s always playing in the Disney store :( ) and her songs are annoying… and idiotic parents say “Oh she’s a great role model for my daughter” which gives her this squeaky clean image.. right? No.. not really, their kids don’t see things like this (or at least, they shouldn’t). I don’t know anyone who was taking photos of themselves provocatively at the age of 14/15. I think we were still grumbling about having to take French as a GCSE option.
My money is on her being in rehab for her lost childhood and drug abuse/pregnancy by the time she’s 18.

Kids aren’t built for the kind of crap the media puts adults through. I mean, look at Britney, forced to grow up and work hard at a young age… has got a psychological disorder. What happens to their schoolwork?

Oh, don’t get me started on how annoyingly over-hyped ‘Highschool Musical’ is. The only one with talent in that whole thing is Zac Efron. The overhype of that show led to another set of untalented people getting bumped up higher than people with talent in last year’s Pop Idol here in the UK. Their whole act was nauseating.

Point 4: Heath Ledger
It was disgusting the amount of groundless rumours and comments the media made surrounding the death of the talented actor.
What sells more than tradegy? Rumours of drug abuse and suicidal drug overdoses… because they feel like they have to cover every angle and every possibility, at the expense of his grieving loved ones.

So yeah, another blog rant… and some truths. These are personal opinions btw so if you reply saying “WTF LC IS AWESOME YOU SUCK… DIIE” don’t expect to get your comment moderated ;)

WTF HITLER IS AWESOME YOU SUCK … LIVE

I wish I had a more intelligible comment to make at this time, but all I can see is “I agree.” Oh, and advance my pet theory on Jamie-Lynn Spears.

I think Nickelodeon got her pregnant on purpose.

Well think about it. They need another generation of Spears children, and since Britney is too unreliable, Nickelodeon has seeded its other Spears star. The plus side for them is that by the time this child is old enough to be another teen hottie, his or her mother will still look relatively young enough to play along side him or her.

In today’s world, it makes perfect sense for corporations to own their actors and seed them to ensure another generation of actors from the same genetic line.

    Today’s world is scary.

Oops, forgot to mention immature brats who post horrible messages on articles/blog posts because they are so bored with their own lives they feel the need to attack others.
I remembered it just now from the lovely message left by someone too cowardly to use their own name/email address… which was peppered in profanity.
I hope they lead an enriching life ;)
