Internet Explorer is irritating.

… to put it mildly :P

So I’ve been coding my new blog theme, and it’s gone well thus far. Then I remembered I ought to do an IE/Safari/Opera test as I usually do, and IE can’t handle a few bits, so I have to change them due to IE’s odd laws of HTML standards.
I am usually pretty good at making things work in all browsers, but sometimes I really want to beat IE with a large branch because it simply refuses to do what it should be doing.

I really hope IE8 decides to adhere more to web standards than IE 7 does.
Don’t even get me started on IE6. I’ll have to find a script to get the PNG’s to work for a start. *grumble*.

So…today was extremely wet and very very windy. We also had a large thunderstorm near midday.

Online, I have been avidly ignoring the Feedback forum at the support board because of many reasons. Number 1 would be for their own protection. I cannot stand ignorance, I cannot stand selfishness, and I cannot stand sheep. Sheep in the sense of people who blindly follow others. It just creates problems, doesn’t help anyone, and just makes things feel rather negative. If you’re reading this and you’ve contributed to it, congratulations. You’re a tool. Enjoy.

I personally don’t feel like creating themes for widescale use while the atmosphere over there is thick with groundless grumbles. Yes, they are groundless. People who feel they ought to complain about the content of the google ads ‘just because’ (if they actually visited some of the sites they’d realise they are PG13), people who are too lazy to do much their end to stop spambots… and people who embarrass theirselves by attempting to say bad things about those who brought the software to everybody… and failing with their remarks.

Yet, we continue to give the best support for a free forum provider, despite being called names and being heavily disrespected by a few. How nice are we?

What? You mean it’s our fault that spambots attack our forums because we don’t use simple measures to counter it? You mean that we shouldn’t blame you because our ads show banners of things that we would rather not see? You’re joking aren’t you? :P

Oh, and why is it tagged weather?

    No I’m not joking :/

    *sighs*
I am tired of explaining the rational reasonings behind my simple statements. When I was Admin at IFSZ, there were barely more than 5 spambot topics a WEEK…. because I actually bothered to take the fairly simple steps to get rid of them, and that forum doesn’t even use the ‘post once in this forum to prove you’re not a bot’ technique.
Spambots are EVERYWHERE. Sure, ZB is spambot free, but it’s not something Brandon can magically port into IF overnight. People shouldn’t be so disrespectful and rude toward us if they cannot be bothered to try simple things first. It comes down to laziness sometimes.
I’d rather not see some people’s themes/signatures/junk, but the fact is, I have to. The ads are there because they keep the forum running. Plus..it’s a bit hypocritical of some of those kids. I bet they watch porn/look at hentai or something in secret while they’re complaining about harmless dating ads. Newflash for them: ZB isn’t JUST for kids. I think Brandon would prefer more adults used it at points. I wouldn’t blame him either.

It’s pretty simple. Not really something to be making derogatory statements about the staff over, no?

…oh, I mentioned weather. Try not honing in on something you want to try and grumble at me for ;)

Maybe my poor attempt at humor was not fully taken. I really wasn’t asking questions to provoke anger and malice from you. I was, horribly it seems, copying others that do that.

And I didn’t see the weather sentence.

You could work on it a little more. Perhaps lay the sarcasm on thicker? :P Seemed genuine this end.

I wouldn’t say my response contained ‘anger’ and ‘malice’, frustration more than anything (I don’t like how people mistake my posts/comments for being mean.. seriously that was not my intention :/ ) . I’m used to dealing with unfriendly comments, but some of the things said lately have been beastly. Do any of us deserve that? No, we really don’t.. and they don’t seem to be getting that. Even paid staff shouldn’t put up with it. We do nothing but help, and they do nothing but complain about things they do actually have a bit of control over…. and blame us for it. As if we don’t have enough to worry about lately ._.

I shall use the tags next time. And if I ever meet any staff in real life, I’ll give them a hearty handshake and tell them “Thanks”.

Nah, I’ll make them feel awkward at first. Make ‘em expect that they should know me somehow. Then I’ll introduce myself.
