I am so Cheesy
So very cheesy.
I wanted to get ingredients to make a cheesecake last Friday but I hadn’t looked at a recipe, but today I had all the ingredients together, so I decided to make it!
I’d not done a baked cheesecake before, so it was a bit new. It would’ve taken a shorter amount of time had I not royally screwed up on several occasions.
Firstly, from now on I shall be reading instructions for things thoroughly before I do anything. Firstly, we needed soured cream, and we only had double cream. I didn’t read the instructions properly so I didn’t realise that the soured cream wasn’t for the filling, so I dumped all 300ml of the cream into the mixture.
Then I needed to get 3 egg yolks, so I got them. I decided to stick the whites in the same small container I’d used to microwave the margarine (to melt it) and mixed it all together. My Mum came into the kitchen, and said “ooh that looks like a lot of mixture”. Sure enough, the soured cream was meant to go on the TOP of the cheesecake after a certain amount of time in the oven. I was meant to save the egg whites to use later on. Because I had put them in a container constraining remnants of margarine, it didn’t do what it was meant to due to the oil in the margarine. So that was three more eggs with 3 yolks left over :p
So, we had to take out half the mixture, top it up with the other egg yolks, add more wheat free flour (my sister is wheat allergic), more sugar and then add more lemon extract.
Boo. It tasted more like a coconut lemon drizzle cake. The base had to be made with wheat-free biscuits, and they contained coconut. My parents have this thing about food with weird stuff in, like sausages with apple and cinnamon in (do you get sausage filled apples? No
haha).. so cocunt biscuits for a lemon cheesecake apparently computes.
so..wasn’t that great. Meh.
